In Clydebank, animal veterinary charity PDSA (People's Dispensary for Sick Animals) are looking for pets that have somehow survived the odds and beaten death. The PDSA was founded almost 100 years ago in 1917 by Maria Dickin with the aim being to provide care for sick and injured animals of the poor. The PDSA help almost ½ million pets a year in the UK.
Previous winners have included a dog that had been shot in the head by a bolt from a crossbow as well as a cat that had received truly awful acid burns. Due to proper care and attention, both animals survived their awful tales.
Winners receive a year’s free pet insurance from the organisation.
So if your dog dodged disaster or your cat used up several of its nine lives then let the PDSA know. All pets treated for a life-threatening illness or injury between August 1, 2015, and August 1, 2016, is eligible. Entries to www.pdsa.org.uk/petsurvivor must be received by September 25.
