Charity fashion show to take place in Helensburgh

Helensburgh will host a fashion show next week, put together by a charity that works with disabled people as part of a bid to raise funds.

Gareloch Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) organises carriage driving and horse-riding activities for people suffering from disabilities. Now it will be bringing a women’s fashion show to the town as its latest fundraising wheeze, following on from the success of a recent event that took place in The Bridge complex in the centre of Helensburgh.

The venue for the fashion show will be the Commodore Hotel, which is in West Clyde Street. Flyer printing that has been created and supplied by shops in Helensburgh can be a big help to charities when they need to promote fundraising events like this.

Since it was launched in the mid-1970s, RDA has been organising riding activities in the Colgrain Equestrian Centre that enable people with various disabilities to get outside, learn skills, meet people, and accomplish goals.

However, the pandemic hit its funds hard, with one of its spokespeople telling the Helensburgh Advertiser that:

“We have had over two years with limited income due to lockdowns and significant vets bills for our ponies.”

The charity fashion evening is scheduled to take place next Wednesday, June 22, with the main show beginning at 7:00 pm.
