The Doublet Public House will be demolished and the site cleared for housing in Plans lodged with the local council. The Pub was part of the former Auchinlek Farm, which was overran in the 1950s by the Clydebank Extension Plan (an Act of Parliament to create new housing estates in the area).
The Pub formally opened in around 1963 and has been on the market for sale for over a year.
In the Plans, which already have detailed planning permission from the Council, there are a mixture of housing types, from terraced and semi detached homes to flat, totaling in all 18 new residences. Also include is a substantial car parking area for 45 vehicles and gardens for the properties too. The smallest homes will be one bedroom flats with the other end of the scale having 3 bedroom semi-detached homes.
