World Cup chance for Dunfermline dancers

A group of youthful dancers based in Dunfermline are set to have the opportunity to compete in the Dance World Cup this summer, after they overcame thousands of other teams to qualify.

The team from Dunfermline’s Dance Bank, situated in the Elgin Industrial Estate, only got together a year and a half ago – but have achieved significant success in dance contests across the UK. Now they are set to head to Barcelona to represent their country in the biggest event of them all.

They will form part of Team Scotland at the tournament, which will see around 5,000 competitors from 47 different nations taking part in the hope of medal glory. The principal of the dance school, Rhona McNab, stated that they were honoured.

She went on to tell the Dunfermline Press that they had submitted 10 dance videos to the judging panel, and that they had been astonished when the judges chose all of them, adding:
“They’ve done really well in such a short space of time. They all work really well together and they’ve been with me since they were little, so it makes me very proud to see them doing so well.”

The tournament will take place during June. Families and fans of events like this may wish to show their support by displaying Banners at competitions.
