Conversion planned for former Dunfermline bank

The company that owns a former bank building in Dunfermline has submitted conversion Plans to the council, which could see it turned into shops and flats.

The building is on Bothwell Street and it used to be a branch of Bank of Scotland. This was closed down at the start of 2025 and the building was acquired by City Hotels Dunfermline Ltd. The company owns the hotel of the same name, but it has different Plans for this building. According to the application, it wants the space to be occupied by three shops and four flats.

It has submitted a bid to change the use of the building and is now awaiting a decision from Fife Council. If it gets the go ahead, it would turn the ground floor into retail spaces and the first floor into flats with two bedrooms each.

City Hotels Dunfermline Ltd does not have any particular outlets lined up for the spaces, but has proposed a range of possibilities. These include finance firms, a hairdresser or beauty parlour, a travel agency and a post office.

Promotional Products created by Dunfermline shops can help new retail outlets spread the word when they first open.

Another amenity that would be provided as part of the project is 24 private parking facilities. They would form a section of the car park that is already available at the site.
