Welcome boost for Dunfermline arts venue

A new arts centre which is soon to be opened in a former fire station in Dunfermline received a welcome boost recently, in the form of a £30,000 grant from arts charity Creative Scotland.

The funding is set to help the Fire Station Creative Group, the organisation behind the project, to install a first floor creative hub, which will consist of a classroom, a cafe and an exhibition space to showcase the work of talented locals.

Creative projects like this often rely on the help of printing companies to produce promotional Flyers and Posters advertising exhibitions. Print companies in Dunfermline can get involved with these projects and the Fire Station Creative Group may consider enlisting one of them to help with producing promotional materials.

Speaking about the grant on behalf of the organisation, Sarah Young said:

"This award is fantastic news. They are the first major funder to come on board and will help to give other funders confidence in the project. We're hoping to hear from a few more major funders over the next few months."

Leonie Bell works for Creative Scotland as the acting director of creative development. She commented on the donation to the project, saying:

"The improvement of buildings and the purchasing of equipment that these awards will support will enhance the diverse and valued range of work being carried out by these organisations from across Scotland, from Orkney to Glasgow.”

Work is set to be carried out at the fire station over the coming months.
