This would be the second branch of the Canadian coffee chain to open in the town and the chosen location for it is Fife Leisure Park. Unlike the existing café at Dunfermline’s Hospital Hill, this Tim Hortons would be a drive-thru venue that would feature a collection window and a couple of order points and lanes for drivers – in addition to a lit up sign with the company’s coffee cup brand logo.
Alongside the building conversion, the project also includes proposals for this sign, with the submission actually being made by Iceni Projects Ltd, acting for Tim Hortons UK and Ireland. According to the Dunfermline Press, the firm included a statement saying:
“This application seeks advertising consent to implement a new signage scheme to facilitate the conversion of the former Chiquito unit in Fife Leisure Park into a Tim Hortons drive-thru operation.”
It adds that the chain has grown in popularity across the UK in recent years.
Should the drive-thru get the go-ahead, flyer printing supplied by shops in the area may be used to help advertise it to coffee lovers.
No date has yet been set for when the council will announce a decision.
