Scottish war veterans benefit from healthcare leaflet

War veterans across Scotland are set to benefit from a leaflet that outlines their entitlement to special kinds of healthcare.

Thanks to the new leaflet, awareness is being raised amongst healthcare providers throughout Scotland about the types of care and treatment that should be made available to war veterans.

The leaflet was created by the NHS and is supported by the military support group Veterans Scotland and the Scottish Minister for Veterans, Keith Brown. Commenting on this new leaflet, Brown said:

"The Scottish Government is committed to supporting our country's veterans, and with input from partner organisations like Veterans Scotland we will continue to develop, deliver and implement new and innovative policies to support our service personnel, their families and veterans."

A spokesperson from Veterans Scotland commented on the work the NHS does with veterans, saying:

"The launch of the NHS inform information zone on veterans' health provides an excellent source of rich and detailed information on a whole host of clinical and social issues which can impact Scottish veterans and is designed to enhance their health and wellbeing."

The NHS often works in conjunction with local support groups to produce awareness-raising leaflets. These can be produced in a cost-effective way using local printing companies that offer services like flyer printing.

Dunfermline is home to the Fife Veterans Association, a similar organisation to Veterans Scotland that offers support to members of the community that are recovering from being at war, either mentally or physically.
