Pantomime helps local cancer charity

A local cancer charity received a real boost thanks to a partnership with a pantomime performance in Dunfermline over the recent festive period.

The Alhambra theatre in Dunfermline showed its charitable side over Christmas as it teamed up with local cancer support centre Maggie’s Fife in a bid to raise both awareness and funds to help the centre.

On 19th December 2012, the Alhambra turned over its annual pantomime performance to the cancer charity. As well as raising funds, Maggie’s Fife used the event to increase awareness of the work it does by placing a leaflet on each chair in the theatre. The leaflets communicated the fundraising events taking place and explained where the money would be going. These were produced with the help of companies providing traditional leaflet and flyer printing in Dunfermline.

Claire Fletcher, PR manager of the Alhambra theatre, spoke about the partnership, saying:

“We are delighted to be teaming up with Maggie's Fife. We are very proud to support such a fantastic organisation as Maggie's and help raise awareness and funds for the care centre."

The Chairman of the associate fundraising board for Maggie’s Fife is Dr Bob Grant. Dr Grant also spoke about the partnership between Maggie’s and the Alhambra, saying:

“This will really help raise awareness and funds for those who benefit from the support offered at Maggie's Fife. It is wonderful to have the magic of theatre supporting such a worthy cause.”
