One big change with the new show is that it is not one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s more celebrated works. Rather than producing a version of one of the duo’s famous musicals, the group will perform a specially written piece entitled ‘The Jury’s Out.’ This has been adapted by society member Linda Milne, who will also be directing the production. Willie Campbell is handling musical arrangement.
Clare White, who is the publicity manager for the society, told the Dunfermline Press that Milne had been a member of this group and another in Kirkcaldy. She added that her work included a number of lead roles, before saying:
“This is her first opportunity to direct a show and she says that she is really enjoying the experience. DGASS are delighted and honoured that she is trusting us with her new and exciting work.”
Poster printing by shops in Dunfermline is one of the options that local theatre troupes like this one have when they need to advertise their upcoming shows.
‘The Jury’s Out’ is a two-act Gilbert and Sullivan operetta that deals with a breach of promise court case. It will start its run in Dunfermline next month.
