New coffee shop set to open in Dunfermline

Additional jobs could be brewing in Dunfermline this year, with major coffee shop chain Caffé Nero seeking permission from the local council to open a branch here.

Fife Council has now received the Plans, and – should they be approved – the shop will create job opportunities for 10 of the town’s residents, as well as providing another leisure option in the area.

The proposed location for the branch would be the vacant ground floor site between Specsavers and Primark, in the high street, and it would be able to seat 65 people at a time.

Speaking to the Dunfermline Press, Caffé Nero spokeswoman Ceri Aitken said:

“We’re still liaising with the landlords over final details. However, in general, opening a Caffé Nero would usually consist of recruiting a team of approximately eight to 10 full-time baristas who would be recruited and trained to make hand-crafted, espresso-based coffees.”

Should the council greenlight the Plans for the shop, Caffé Nero will have the option of using flyer and poster printing in Dunfermline to publicise it to people living in the town, once the construction is complete.

Caffé Nero already has approximately 550 branches around the UK and Miller Planning, the agents representing the firm, stated that the shop would help with the revitalisation of the high street.

The council is expected to announce its decision in February.
