Local scout troop makes a move

A scout troop based within Dunfermline has managed to make the move into a brand new headquarters, with help from the money they were given by the organisers of a festival in the town.

The annual Charity Beer Festival raises cash for different causes and one of the beneficiaries of the 2017 event was the 114th Fife Scout Group. They received £500 to be used towards funding a new base, by converting the building that used to be home to the Abbeyview Clinic.

All of the cash that this festival raises gets divided with some going to the youth section of the rugby club and the rest to the Round Table. This group then hands out its share to various causes and charities.

One of the scouts from the troop, Sarah Akers, applied to them for funding. The resulting money helped them buy the building during the summer, with Sarah telling the Dunfermline Press that they still had some left over:
“With the money we have purchased a number of hard-wearing plastic Boxes and two trolleys. This will make the storage and transportation of existing equipment much easier and would not have been possible without the aid of Dunfermline Round Table’s generous donation.”

Local organisations like this scout troop often make use of places that can supply poster printing, to help when they are holding events.
