The branch will be located in Holyrood Place and it is thought that the deal to buy the land was worth £4.1m.
The new store will represent the company’s first venture into Dunfermline and will join a string of other big names as part of a major new retail and leisure development.
Alastair Dickie spoke about the Plans on behalf of Carnegie Regeneration, the company behind the new complex. He said:
"It would be 50,000 square feet in size and I would have thought, with a fair wind, you're looking at late 2014 for an opening date. It would be more of a food unit, Morrisons are primarily a food retailer and don't sell much in the way of fridges and freezers.
"Matalan has opened in the past year and we now have permission for Home Bargains so we're also looking to refurbish the rest of the park to open it up for new retailers. We obviously have the planning process first of all."
Morrisons is known for its offer-led marketing approach and eye-catching in-store communications which explain various offers to customers play a crucial part in its success. Printing companies in Dunfermline often work with supermarkets like Morrisons to produce everything from large-scale hanging Banners to smaller on-shelf messaging using POS printing.
The new store will start to take shape over the coming months and an opening date is expected to be confirmed once the planning process is complete.
