The renewed illuminations are courtesy of the brand new Tesco store, which is due to open in the town centre on 23rd October, as the store is providing the funding to pay for the Glen Bridge lights.
Tesco Scotland’s manager of corporate affairs, Richard Holligan, told the local press that the company had been contacted about the lights by Helen Law, a local councillor, and was delighted to help with them. He said:
“We’re pleased to be in a position to help Fife Council provide new winter and Christmas lights for around our store and the local area.
“We are providing the money to purchase the lights for the Glen Bridge, which will be there all winter long, along with a couple of special ornaments for the Christmas period.”
The display is sure to be a big attraction, having been absent for a number of years, with flyer and poster printing in Dunfermline likely to be called upon to let people know when it is due to be switched on.
Furthermore, the new Tesco, which will be in Carnegie Drive, is expected to create over 200 jobs – providing an additional festive boost to Dunfermline.
