A building in Dunfermline that used to be a popular nightclub looks set to be converted into a block of flats, with the news that the new owner has submitted Plans for approval.
This building is situated on Pilmuir Street and housed the nightclub called Johnson’s for many years. This beloved nightspot was given the nickname ‘Jiggies’ by residents of Dunfermline, but it closed its doors three years ago and the owner sold up. It was then purchased by Reading-based firm IFA Homes, which wants to convert it into a number of flats.
The company has submitted Plans that would see one flat with three bedrooms, four with two bedrooms, and two with one bedroom built on floors one and two of the building. Housing developers sometimes look to outlets that provide brochure printing when they want to showcase their homes.
In addition to housing the nightclub, this building has had many other uses over the years. It was first built back 1912 with money from the Carnegie Trust and was initially home to the Dunfermline branch of the Women’s Institute.
After that, it was turned into a youth centre, before being occupied by Johnson’s as of 1980. It holds Grade C listed status, which any conversion Plans would have to accommodate.
No word on when a decision will be made has yet been announced.Get a Free Quote for Plans
