Folk music event comes to Fife

A new folk festival is due to be held in Fife this week, featuring local and national talent in a bid to rouse an interest in traditional Scottish music.

The folk festival is planned for the final weekend of June and is being held in Falkland village, which is located around 30 minutes south of Dunfermline. The festival comprises traditional ceilidh dance workshops, concerts, contests and musician jam sessions, all designed to inspired visitors with a passion for traditional folk music.

Currently billed to appear at the festival are the Lomond Ceilidh Band, Dunfermline-based singer Aileen Carr and various other folk singers and musicians. The Lomond Tavern and the Bruce Inn at Falkland are officially supporting the event, with music sessions being held in these pubs.

The folk festival promises to deliver fun for all the family, with music workshops for children and competitions for budding folk artists.

The Falkland Folk Festival is being promoted by a series of leaflets that have been produced using flyer printing. Dunfermline and Fife residents wishing to find out more about the festival can pick up one of these leaflets, which can be found at various locations, such as local pubs.

A brochure is also being produced as part of the promotional material for the festival, using full colour printing. The brochure also folds out into a souvenir poster that can be kept as a memento of the festival.

The festivities kick off on Friday and are set to run through until the end of Saturday.
