Among other achievements, Sir Joseph Noel Paton created the designs for one of the stained glass windows at Dunfermline Abbey. This window depicts brave figures from the history of Scotland and Paton was commissioned to produce the designs by Andrew Carnegie, a wealthy local philanthropist. His sketches for the window will be the centrepiece of this retrospective exhibition.
The venue for it will be the Carnegie Library & Galleries, making for an appropriate choice as it is named after Andrew Carnegie. When exhibitions are being organised by venues in the local area, brochure printing outlets can be a big help in creating programmes with photos and information for visitors.
This particular exhibition is being put together by Lesley Lettice. Talking to the Dunfermline Press, she said:
“As a son of Dunfermline, Paton was thrilled to create the designs for the Abbey windows – and we’re delighted to be showing them alongside so many highlights from his distinguished career.”
There will be artworks from eight public Paton collections featured. There will also be pieces donated by private collectors, such as letters that Carnegie sent to the artist and his sister Amelia.
It will run from 14th September to 9th February 2025.
