Dunfermline teens aiming for Commonwealth Games

Two teenage swimmers from Dunfermline are targeting the chance to compete for their country at the next Commonwealth Games, after losing out on a championship chance due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Emma Russell and Ellie Turner are both pupils at Woodmill High School in Dunfermline and had been hoping to compete at the 2020 European Junior Swimming Championships. These should have been held in Scotland during August, but were cancelled because of the pandemic, which denied the duo the chance to swim competitively for fans in their own country.

However, instead of brooding over this lost opportunity, the two have switched their attention to the upcoming Commonwealth Games and they have stated during a recent video interview with Press Sport that they are focused on this competition because they will be at their peak competition ages when they come around.

They went on to add that, although their future training schedule was still up in the air because of the pandemic restrictions, they were hopeful of being able to get around any issues and get back to regular swim sessions.

When people take part in sports events, their friends and family sometimes take Banners to show support, often these have been created by local Print shops that offer high quality banner printing services.

The next Commonwealth Games are scheduled to take place during 2022, with the chosen city being Birmingham in the UK.
