Dunfermline school to get new classrooms

A primary school in Dunfermline is set to have two brand new classrooms added to it, after the proposals for the project were given the green light by the local council.

Masterton Primary School is situated on Aberdour Road in Dunfermline and this project will see the site have a one-storey extension built on it. The extension will be in its north-west corner and it is expected to cost in the region of £1 million to complete. It will provide space for the two additional classrooms, with the planning report also indicating that four further teachers will be needed, alongside the same number of places for parking.

The main reason cited in the report for the project’s necessity is the plan for more homes to be built in the town, which will lead to more pupils attending the school. Local Stationery printers are often used by schools in the area, to supply the Forms and teaching materials needed.

According to the Dunfermline Press, the manager of the project, Dawn Cook, stated:

“This extension is to be fully funded by developers, and Section 75 legal agreements are now in place for planning obligations from each of the contributing housing sites.”

Cook also said that work on building the extension was scheduled to start this spring, with the classrooms available by August.
