The development will be located between Parkneuk and Wellwood, and is set to cost £100m, with the hope being that it will also lead to the creation of around 4,000 jobs in the town.
This planned development, which will cover a 62-hectare area, will encompass a neighbourhood centre, retail facilities, a park, cycle networks and a footpath, as well as the homes and the school, and is expected to take approximately a decade to complete.
There are places, like those supplying catalogue printing in Dunfermline, that are likely to prove useful to the shops there, once they start opening.
However, the report published by Fife Council also indicates that some issues – particularly those relating to disused mine facilities located underneath the chosen site, and ones concerning possible traffic gridlocks during the building process – need to be resolved before work begins.
These are not expected to present a serious long-term problem for developers I&H Brown though, with the council report concluding that:
“The information contained within the application submission indicates that these things can all be achieved.”
I&H Brown, which is based in Perth, now effectively has planning permission for the project and the next step will be for the firm to produce more detailed information.Get a Free Quote for Plans
