Kaitlin Laurence lives at Pentland Terrace, on the Abbeyview housing estate, and was competing solo. Following her success, Kaitlin’s mum Laura told the Dunfermline Press that it was a proud moment for the family.
She went on to add that she had found her daughter’s performance and result breathtaking, as Kaitlin was competing against the most skilled youngsters in the UK.
Approximately 500 competitors entered the event, with Kaitlin being among three entrants from her YV’s Twirl Team club to secure a place in the nationals.
She participated in five of the events – dance twirl, two baton, fancy strut, duo and solo – and reached the final in the two-baton event, alongside her finish in third place for the solo one.

Laura stated that, following this, she thinks Kaitlin will only be more determined to achieve further success, commenting:
“Now that she’s placed for solo, she’ll be doing more grades and will move up to the novice section which is a bit harder.”
