Dunfermline Childrens Gala returning this summer

The popular Children’s Gala will be taking place again in Dunfermline this summer, with the organisers having confirmed Plans to bring the event back for the first time since 2019.

Originally, it had been hoped to get the event up and running again last year, but those Plans were put on hold after the executive committee responsible for it proved unable to find the new members needed. These have now been found and the committee is stating that most of the area’s primary schools are represented on its board.

That means the gala can happen once again, something which will be fantastic news for children who live in Dunfermline. In the past, this beloved annual event has attracted thousands of youngsters; the organisers will be hoping for a similar response this year.

The theme for the 2023 Children’s Gala is to be ‘Cities of the World’ in recognition of the fact that Dunfermline has secured city status. Shops in the city that offer banner printing can enable the organisers of local galas to put up colourful Banners that promote the themes.

Speaking to the Dunfermline Press, Gaynor Williamson, who is chairperson for the executive committee, said:

“We are going to turn to the High Street and ask businesses to have window displays and make it a big community event.”

It will take place in June.
