Dunfermline arts centre construction to resume this year

Work on the building of a brand-new centre for performance arts in Dunfermline is scheduled to get underway again this year, after it had to be paused due to the Covid-19 crisis.

This centre is being created by the Alhambra Theatre, which owns the site where it is being built. The completed centre will be located in New Row, in a building that was formerly home to the ironmongers firm Watt and Dewar. It will be called the Ironmonger Studio in recognition of the building’s history.

In addition to offering studio theatre facilities for live stage performances, the finished project will also contain a cinema and a bar and café. Last August, Fife Council gave the nod to the change of use application for the building submitted by the Alhambra Theatre.

People putting on shows at venues like this one often turn to local poster printing outlets to make sure that they are able to advertise them properly with top-quality colour Posters.

Speaking to the Dunfermline Press about the Plans for this venue, a spokesperson stated that:

“Following the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, activity was halted. We have since then been home to the Ukraine appeal donations centre. Works are scheduled to recommence this year.”

The building chosen for the centre has been lying empty for a number of years.
