Charity in Dunfermline to launch youth centre

A counselling charity based in Dunfermline and targeting young people in the region has been granted approval by the local council for its Plans to launch a youth centre in a vacant building.

The Headroom charity provides a mixture of creative therapy, counselling and advice to youngsters in Dunfermline and wider West Fife. This news means that it will be able to set up in a new base, at Ling House, on Canmore Street.

This building dates back to the 19th Century and holds listed status, but it has lain vacant for some time. The application from Headroom was to convert it into office space and a café, providing youngsters throughout the region with a place to meet.

Rachel Eastop, its founder, told the Dunfermline Press that she was thrilled to have the support of Fife Council for the Plans and that she could not wait to get the building ready to welcome young people. She explained:

“On the first floor we’ll have officers, counselling rooms and an events room where we can host music, film and gaming nights for young people. We want it to be a youth venue which is safe, where they can use it and hang out and congregate.”

Local charities often choose to make use of places that can offer services like Logo Design at affordable price rates, to help them establish themselves when they launch.
