This group is encouraging the council to use some of its available budget to recruit artists who are based in Dunfermline and the wider Fife area for the job. It is arguing that some of the more worn out parts of the city centre could be brought back to life through colourful and eye-catching public art. Similar ideas have already been adopted in Edinburgh, Dundee and Glasgow – where the Mural Trail has been a big success.
Speaking to the Dunfermline Press, Ryan Blackadder, the co-convener of this group stated that the murals that are on show in that city depict famous former residents, cultural landmarks and nature scenes, which add visual beauty.
He then went on to add:
“These murals provoke thought and spark joy, bringing colour and beauty to previously dreary or boring spaces. As Dunfermline finds it feet as a new city, it should express itself by showcasing art and creativity.”
Graphic Design Services situated in Dunfermline could also potentially help with ideas for murals in the city.
Blackadder has suggested that the best location for the creation of the first ones would be the future city square.Get a Free Quote for Graphic Design Services
