Bus depot in Dunfermline getting extension

Plans for a bus depot in Dunfermline to get an extension worth hundreds of thousands of pounds have been submitted to the authorities, with the building marking its centenary.

Stagecoach East Scotland is behind the Plans for the depot, which is located on St Leonards Street, and the firm is hoping that the local council gives its backing to the project. The company has submitted an application for planning permission to extend the depot, which has been the hub for coaches in and out of the town since 1918.

The depot started out being used for trams, before these vehicles were phased out of use, but it remains central to life in Dunfermline. The centenary of its opening was celebrated during an open day that allowed the public to look around it.

According to the Dunfermline Press, a spokeswoman from Stagecoach stated that the firm remained committed to investing in its various depots and other services so that staff and customers could enjoy the best possible experience, adding:

“The upcoming investment for Dunfermline depot will improve driver welfare facilities, the training department and office accommodation and will help us to improve facilities for our staff and deliver an even better service for the community in the future.”
