Brand new festival coming to Dunfermline park

A park in Dunfermline is set to be the venue for a festival dedicated to Afro-Caribbean culture, which will be the first event of its kind in the whole of Fife.

This festival is the pet project of local shopkeeper Temitope Ajayi-Salami, who runs a grocery store on Bridge Street. She arrived in the country back in 2021, alongside her husband – who was studying in Edinburgh. Now she is keen to introduce local people to Afro-Caribbean music, culture and food through this festival.

Speaking to a reporter from the Dunfermline Press, Ajayi-Salami stated that she began to plan it towards the end of last year. Then she continued:

“I know that there’s a lot of Africans here, and that it’s a growing community. I wanted something to bring people together and let others know about our culture whilst having fun at the same time.”

Ajayi-Salami has managed to secure the use of Pittencrieff Park as a venue for the festival. There are no similar events in the area, so it should be able to attract a big crowd.

Graphic Design Services in Dunfermline can be useful to the organisers of local events. They can help with the creation of advertising Posters for them.

Ajayi-Salami has been posting about the festival on social media and has received an encouraging response.

It will be held on 5th July.
