This event is set to be based around the Grain Exchange, a market in the High Street, which will be turned into a seasonal funhouse in collaboration with the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. There will also be a number of Christmas-themed art displays and a trail for people to follow while abiding by social distancing rules, featuring a twinkling array of Christmas lights.
The actual switching on of these lights is set to be streamed online so that people can still take part in it as a virtual event. Other activities will include a scavenger hunt for children, while local stores are being urged to get involved by adding Christmas decorations to their windows. According to the Daily Record, a report by South Ayrshire Council states that:
“There will be plenty of things for families to do in the town centre but in a safe way thereby balancing public health considerations with the goal of driving business into the town centre.”
The Winter Wanderland is scheduled to launch on November 15 and run until January 3, 2021.
