The Edinburgh Woollen Mill used to have an outlet on the high street, but it shut at the height of the Covid-19 crisis. Now, it is set to open a new store a bit further along the street, at numbers 225 to 229. The company submitted a planning application for the site, to enable it to put up its sign. South Ayrshire Council chose to give it the green light at a recent meeting.
The unit that the Edinburgh Woollen Mill will be moving into was formerly occupied by Barclays Bank. The bank was there for a decade and a half, but it closed the branch down during 2024.
When new shops first open in the town, they often embark on local advertising campaigns. Flyer printing supplied by outlets in Ayr can be a useful part of that.
According to the Ayr Advertiser, a planning officer for the council stated that:
“The Ayrshire Roads Alliance was consulted on the application and offered no objection to the proposed signage. It is therefore considered that the proposed signage is acceptable from a public safety perspective.”
The Edinburgh Woollen Mill has more than 200 shops across the country, selling clothes suitable for everyone.
