The company behind Plans for a massive new store within an Ayr retail park has been revealed as the major shopping chain The Range, two months after the plans were originally announced.
Back in February, South Ayrshire Council revealed that a mystery firm had applied to merge three empty units in the Heathfield Retail Park to create a single huge store. Now, it has announced that The Range is the firm aiming to move into the units previously occupied by Carpetright, Harveys and Poundland.
Having secured the go-ahead from the council for the actual store, The Range has now submitted an application to build an additional garden centre, which would be located behind the main store site. It is hoping to stock items such as sheds and other garden furniture, power tools, trees and plants.
Promotional Products produced by outlets in Ayr can be an effective way of attracting customers to new shops when they open.
According to the Ayr Advertiser, the statement submitted by the company alongside its application says that:
“The garden centre is an intrinsic component of the Range’s business model and the council is expected to grant permission for a garden centre extending to 929 sq m to the rear.”
The statement goes on to say that there is not a site within the centre of Ayr that would be suitable for it.
