Scottish comedian has Ayr on tour schedule
The Scottish comedy actress Karen Dunbar is currently on a tour of Scotland, and is due to play a gig in Ayr at the beginning of November.
Her debut stand-up appearance came in 1990 in an Ayrshire pub. At 19 years of age, she was offered the spot after hosting a Karaoke event. With no material and little confidence, the novice chatted to the audience and sang a song. It became 'a baptism of fire'.
Karen has since appeared in the sketch show 'Chewin the Fat' and starred in 'The Karen Dunbar Show', winning a host of awards including a BAFTA. To this can be added stints in panto in Glasgow, not to mention, the West End stage. Her performances have been diverse encompassing Shakespeare and Burns as well as DJing at TRNSMT in Ibiza.
In 2014 she participated in the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games before 40,000 people and one billion TV viewers. From small venues to the stage of the National Theatre, Karen has won over audiences with her combination of stand up, character acting skills and musical talent.
