The credit for the success of the CLIC Sargent charity event really belongs to the local bands that gave their time, though.
The bands who gave up their time for free to entertain everyone taking part on the day included the likes of Big Mick, Contrast and Skools Out.
Mike Stand, Laurie Harry Stevenson, Billy Jay and Just C also contributed to the eight-hour 'musicathon'.
A sizable crowd was attracted to the event, largely with the help of leaflet and poster printing in Ayr and across the surrounding areas. Most customers were entertained and happy to give generously at the Town Hotel event too.
As well as the excellent music provided by the local bands, there were also many fun activities to take part in. The event also gave local businesses the opportunity for a spot of flyer distribution, to make sure those attending learned a little more about them.
The real boon was for the charity though, which gives vital support to children suffering from cancer, as well as their families.
The money raised on the day certainly pleased the owner of the Town Hotel, Senga Black, who said:
“Huge thanks go to the bands, our customers, and businesses who made it possible.
“We had a barbecue going outside in the beer garden, and music inside.”
There was also a chest waxing stall, as well as a raffle.
