Based in Glasgow, Gilmour wants to transform the Somerset Park side into a major Scottish Premier League team within six years.
Should his takeover go through, Gilmour intends to build a new stadium seating 10,000 people and a village providing both new homes and entertainment in Ayr.
This would lead to the creation of 900 jobs while putting an extra £100 million into the town’s economy, with businesses like brochure printers in Ayr sure to be needed for showcasing these Plans to residents of the town.
Gilmour has been negotiating with Ayr United chairman Lachlan Cameron for a year and hopes to reach a resolution soon, before having the club installed at its cutting edge new home for 2018, while aiming to be a top-half SPL side by 2021.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Gilmour said:
“There is no reason why Ayr United should not be playing in the top half of the Premiership.
“Lachlan Cameron and I have spoken about the principle of me having majority ownership in Ayr United.”
