These plans are the brainchild of a community group made up of businesspeople in the town, which is called SeeAYR. The proposed arena would be suitable for hosting top-level live events, as well as containing facilities for conferencing and leisure use, plus a travel centre and hotel. If it goes ahead, the location for it would be beside the shore at Newton.
The SeeAYR group is stating that it wants everyone living in Ayr to be able to look at and talk about the proposals, and that it is aiming to build something that will have long-term benefits for local youngsters.
Multi-use complexes of the sort being put forward by this group often make use of Print shops that are situated in the same area to provide leaflets and Brochures outlining their upcoming events and shows.
Among its other amenities, the planned complex would have a football centre containing an indoor full-sized pitch. A spokesperson for SeeAYR told the Daily Record that:
“SeeAYR believe that Newton can be the catalyst for urban rejuvenation and inward investment in Ayrshire.”
The spokesperson added that it would provide jobs, as well as world class facilities.
