A sizeable extension could be set to be added to Ayr Railway Station, as Network Rail has submitted Plans to the local council in the hopes of getting planning permission.
The company wants to extend the existing station so that it can provide a range of new amenities for users. The submitted plans include the addition of a walkway that would be covered, so that it is suitable for use in all weathers. They would also see a brand-new facilities unit for the public and a new ticket office constructed at the station.
If the planning application is approved, a portal frame will be built at the station to provide coverage for the walkway, while two brand new buildings will be erected for staff usage and for the ticket office. Print shops in Ayr can make sure that local rail and bus stations do not run short of tickets.
IDP Architects designed the plans and are acting as the agent for Network Rail during the application process. The proposed extension would be built alongside Platform 1 at the station.
The plans for this extension are now featured within the planning portal section of the South Ayrshire Council website, under ‘pending consideration’. A date for a decision to be made on them has yet to be announced.Get a Free Quote for Print Get a Free Quote for Plans
