A massive school for primary pupils is set to be built just outside of Ayr, following the decision of the local council to approve the proposals at a recent meeting.
This school will be located in Sherwood Road, Prestwick, near Ayr. It is set to be used by those pupils who currently attend St Ninian’s Primary and Glenburn Primary – which will add up to a total of 823 children. Alongside the primary school facilities there will be a nursery building next door, with the project expected to cost £19m to complete.
South Ayrshire Council opted to give the green light to the building of the school at the most recent planning meeting of its Regulatory Panel. The only concern expressed by the panel was over the planned parking areas, but the council has confirmed that it will keep an eye on these as it progresses.
The design that was submitted to the council indicates that pupils from the two existing primaries will occupy separate parts of the building, with distinct entrances to it. Schools often look to Stationery printers based locally to supply the Forms they need for everyday administration.
The completed school is also set to feature flexible spaces for learning, equipped with worktops and sinks, while the first floor will house the computer rooms and library.
