What's Happening in Ayr, Scotland…

New homes to be built in Ayr

Plans have been unveiled to turn a set of derelict stables in Ayr into a number of luxury flats, with the company behind them now having applied to South Ayrshire Council for permission.

Nightingale House is located at

Doonfoot Road and at one time it was Seafield House’s stables and kitchen. Its most recent owners were NHS Ayrshire and Arran and the local council, who used it as offices and storage space, but it has been disused for some time.

Doonfoot Developments purchased it recently however, and is now hoping to turn it into a block of 17 upmarket flats. A meeting of the Fort, Seafield and Wallacetown community council welcomed this proposal, on the grounds that it would get the building into use again.

A spokeswoman for Doonfoot Developments told the Daily Record that:

“We want to restore a landmark building of Ayr back to its former glory and create bespoke homes full of character.”

The company has promised to leave the basic layout of the site as it currently is, while also retaining most of the building itself during the development work. However the plant room and boiler house will be knocked down and rebuilt, should permission be granted by the local council.

The developers behind luxury flats such as the ones being planned in Ayr can use booklet printers to provide materials showing them off.
