McKeown rolling into Ayr for concert

Over three decades since he broke fans’ hearts around the world by saying Bye Baby to the Bay City Rollers, Les McKeown will be hitting the stage of the Gaiety Theatre in Ayr this October, to recreate that golden era.

He served as the lead singer for the Scottish band from 1973 until 1978, during which time they became major stars with their hits Shang-A-Lang, Bye Baby and All of Me Loves All of You, and McKeown was the fresh-faced focal point for the fans.

Throughout this period, the Rollers could do no wrong, with even their tartan outfits becoming fashion items, as their debut American release soared to the pinnacle of the charts and they played sell-out concerts in the US, Japan, Europe and Australia.

Since then the fans have lost none of their enthusiasm, with a reunion tour in 1982 and a performance at the 1999 Hogmanay Festival proving hugely popular. This suggests that the upcoming Gaiety concert will be a real event in the town, especially with the poster printing available from Ayr Print companies to help publicise it.

McKeown will be performing alongside new band members Alex Southgate, Michael Koch, Si Mulvey and Alex Toff, as he plays his classic hits.

The concert is on Monday, 6th October from 7.30 pm, and tickets costing £18.50 or £19.50 can be purchased at the town’s box office.
