This will see those taking part having to remove their shoes and socks before stepping onto a row of red-hot coals – all in the name of raising vital funds for the hospice. The venue for the event is set to be Ayr Rugby Club and participants who are a little daunted by the thought of pitting their feet against the heat will be able to bring along friends or family for support.
Flyer printing carried out by shops in Ayr that specialise in bulk orders can be a real help in getting the word out to people about charity events such as this one.
Those who are willing to feel the burn to help the hospice will have their Firewalks captured on camera, so that they can relive the moment after they have cooled off.
Speaking to the Daily Record, Ayrshire Hospice CEO Carla MacEwan stated that:
“I believe it is a great opportunity not just to raise much-needed funds for the hospice but also to take on a personal challenge.”
The event will be taking place on January 26, in Burns Week, so the fundraising target for entrants is £263 – which would be the poet’s age next year.
