Gaiety Theatre will be reopening this month

The popular Gaiety Theatre venue in Ayr is all set to reopen later this month, having been closed for a number of months while essential renovation work was carried out.

Its re-launch will be marked with a parade through the streets of Ayr, beginning at Ayr Central, with the official ceremony to reopen it set to take place outside the Gaiety from noon. A community champion nominated by the general public will be responsible for officiating this ceremony, and there are also set to be several celebrities present.

In addition to this, local people will be given the opportunity to explore the theatre from backstage and check out the work that has been done to improve the venue, with a series of guided tours being offered free of charge.

As part of the studio theatre section of this tour, a team of heritage volunteers will be unveiling an inaugural exhibition of photographs from the Gaiety Theatre’s past, alongside stories from both members of the audience and performers.

Prancing Jack Productions’ Eileen Frater has produced a special film for the occasion, which features Jim Prime of Deacon Blue, Robert C Kelly, Michelle McManus, Johnny Beattie and Dave Anderson, among others.

The ceremony is due to take place on the 10th of September and venues like this often rely on places that offer poster printing to promote their shows.
