South Ayrshire Council has opted for BAM Construction, following a bidding process, and the company will be collaborating with the designers and the council to develop the project. The completed leisure centre is set to be located at Alloway Street, on a site that was home to the Arran Mall and Hourstons before.
The next stage in the process will be a public consultation, with the council keen to get residents of Ayr involved in choosing a final design for the centre. The council has stated that it sees the building of this leisure centre as a way of helping local people to improve their mental and physical health.
Those running leisure centres often look to outlets nearby that supply quality poster printing, so that they can promote their classes and other activities.
Speaking to Scottish Construction Now, Cllr Brian McGinley stated:
“We want to make South Ayrshire a better place to live for everyone, and I’m sure this will come as welcome news to residents and local businesses as we take further steps towards breathing life back into Ayr town centre.”
No word on when the actual construction will start has been given as yet.
