Chris Taylor, 32, stated that this project had represented his dream for some time and that he wants it to become a place for nurturing the performing stars of future generations.
As an actor he has long been a favourite of those who attend the town’s Gaiety Theatre, but his dreams of developing a community performance space only began to come to fruition when he secured a spot within the Arran Shopping Mall.
Already this space, which has been named the Hipshot Community Theatre, is being used to provide classes in acting, dancing, voice coaching, DJing and photography.
However Taylor, who also runs a youth group called Hipshot, told the Daily Record that this is just the beginning:
“Ideally we need another £3,000 to get the place as we’d like it and really spread our wings.
“I see us being a real focus for the community – somewhere to come and express yourself.”
Taylor will be able to rely on the help of places that provide flyer printing in Ayr, if he wants to get the word out about the project.
He stated that the theatre could eventually become a real force in developing local entertainment talent.
