The renowned Scottish violinist is about to begin a tour with her show, 'An Evening With Nicola Benedetti', and is due to appear in Ayr at the end of October.
Indeed, she was born and lived her formative years in the Ayrshire town of Irvine, Her career was launched by winning 2004's 'BBC Young Musician of the Year'. Once established as a professional musician, she then went on to win a Grammy Award and is a twice Classical BRIT 'Best Female Artist Award' winner.
It is more than a decade since Nicola's last solo tour, and the relaxed format combines performing with telling stories. There will be a number of shorter pieces – ranging from romantic through to folk, interspersed with thoughts on her own personal music choices and talking about her recent experiences.
She will be accompanied by fellow musicians, accordionist Samuele Telari, and guitarist Plinino Fernandes. The playlist, on this occasion, encompasses Pablo de Sarasate's 'Carmen Navarra and Fantasie'. Works most notably by Theresia von Paradis, Paganini and Debussy, plus newly commissioned material and a selection of Scottish traditional music.
