Ayr Boswell 2008 is a team for boys aged below 12 and all of them are currently trying to run the distance between each of the stadiums of the English Premier League clubs. It adds up to a remarkable 1,034.2 miles and the boys are already coming up to the halfway mark in this marathon task. The idea came from a parent of one of the boys and they are doing it in aid of Ayrshire Cancer Support.
The run started from the Somerset Park ground of Ayr United, with the boys legging it from there to Hampden Park, before moving on to Newcastle. The latest section of their challenge sees them travelling to Liverpool and ex-Reds player and manager Graeme Souness is among the celebrities who has sent a message of support. The boys are of course completing the run around their local area.
Banner printing services provided by nearby shops enables people to show support to those taking part in charity challenges like this. Speaking to the Daily Record, Scott McCann, the team’s head coach, said:
“They are keeping fit whilst being able to raise funds for Ayrshire Cancer Support, because times are tough during this pandemic.”
The team is aiming to raise £5,000 in donations.
