Somerset Hub is the name the club has given to the new centre it plans to build at the stadium, with the overall aim behind it being to make the experience of supporters visiting the ground better. It will see a number of additional amenities added, including a bigger and better club shop. Football clubs frequently stock items like promotional Pens with the club name and crest on them in their official shops.
Ayr United will also be adding office space to the stadium, for day-to-day club administration, and a brand new club to be used for social events. Now that approval in principle has been secured, it is hoped that work can get underway on the project very soon.
According to the Daily Record, the owner of Ayr United, David Smith, spoke to the Ayrshire Post when the news was announced and expressed his delight.
He then went on to say:
“It’s a hugely positive piece of news and will give us a real platform to build from as we look to strengthen the club’s infrastructure moving forward.”
Somerset Hub is scheduled to be completed within six months.
