Emma Durkan has signed up to play at the very first Fresh Ayr festival, which will be held during the summer. She is joining over 30 other musicians who have been confirmed for the event and the line-up is a mixture of performers from the local area, up-and-coming musicians from the UK folk scene and stars with a global reputation.
Durkan hails from Ardrossan and will be using the acoustic stage to perform, on the final day of the weekend-long event. She is a violinist who started playing traditional songs on the instrument when she was 11 years old.
The venue for it will be Rozelle Park and the organisers of new events like Fresh Ayr can get promotional poster printing help from shops in Ayr.
Other acts that have been lined up for the festival include Blazin’ Fiddles, experimental folk stars Talisk and the hugely successful Scottish band Manran. Speaking to the Ayr Advertiser, festival director Blair Parham said:
“It’s shaping up to be an unforgettable weekend and we can’t wait to welcome music lovers of all ages to Rozelle Park this summer.”
It will be held between 11th and 13th August.
