Ayr is set to get a new nursery and primary school within the next decade, with South Ayrshire Council having revealed that it will spend part of its budget on this project.
The council announced that St John’s Primary School in the town is to be knocked down, with a replacement school to be constructed in its place, while the new nursery will be located in the same area and will take the place of Wallacetown nursery. In total, these two projects are expected to cost roughly £16 million to complete.
These are not the only changes that the council is planning however, as it also confirmed during the announcement of its spending Plans for the upcoming period that two secondary schools in Ayr will undergo refurbishment. Girvan and Kyle Academies will both be given a facelift.

Speaking at the meeting to announce the plans for the budget, Douglas Campbell from South Ayrshire Council stated that the local authority would be using the money on improvements that would make things better for residents.
