The report from Education Scotland praised the school for improving the overall levels of attainment, but also stated that the future direction should be driven by strategic leadership – encouraging the school to cultivate this. The report was published after inspectors visited the school and spoke to staff, pupils and parents.
This visit was intended to help them collect information about the standard of teaching, learning and leadership, as well as about the wellbeing and achievements of the pupils studying at the school. It found that pupils and teachers had good relationships and that the pupils were happy with the learning on offer.
In addition to this, National Qualifications attainment levels were higher than at similar schools in other parts of the country.
Speaking to the Ayr Advertiser, the portfolio holder for Lifelong Learning at South Ayrshire Council, Cllr Margaret Toner, stated that:
“I’m proud of the ongoing commitment of staff at Queen Margaret Academy and I’m confident that the school will build on its positive momentum, while continuing to work to deliver improvements in the areas highlighted in the inspection.”
