Ayr resident announced as Miss Great Britain finalist

A young Ayrshire woman is this year hoping to land the coveted Miss Great Britain title.

Jennifer Devlin, a 23-year-old who lives in Alloway, near Ayr, was recently revealed as one of the finalists of Britain’s most coveted beauty pageant. The competition has crowned beauty queens for 58 years.

Jennifer, who works as an air hostess, said that she decided to enter the competition after some of her friends told her about it.

Speaking to the Daily Record, she claimed that she didn’t expect to get so far and is thrilled at being in the final.

She further explained that seven girls from Scotland remain in the running, and she will represent South Ayrshire.

Later in November, the young blonde is set to stand amongst the nation’s top beauties for the event’s grand final, which will be held at a venue in Leicester.

The contest was introduced at the end of World War II, and its popularity and fame have grown rapidly since. A number of the event’s past winners have gone on to achieve fame in other areas.

Those who enter competitions in Ayrshire can drum up support by appearing in the local media and by enlisting the help of professional printing companies in Ayr to produce Posters.

Jennifer, who once attended Belmont Academy, told the Daily Record that despite her success, she isn’t looking at modelling as a career.

She explained how she loves her work as a flight attendant for the fact it allows her to travel all over the world.
