The National Pub and Bar Awards are the biggest prize for firms in that segment of the industry. On the night, the 31 top pubs from across Scotland will be announced and one of those in contention is the Smoking Goat. This bar and grill is located on Academy Street in Ayr and has already won the regional heat on behalf of South Ayrshire.
Now David Storrie, who owns the venue, is hoping to go one further and claim the national prize. He is set to travel down to London for the awards night. Pubs that win major honours of this sort often make sure that, when they pay for promotional flyer printing, the award wins are mentioned on them.
The awards are organised by Pub and Bar Magazine. According to the Daily Record, its editor, Tristan O’Hana, said:
“We were overwhelmed by the level and quality of entries this year. It just goes to show what magnificent work is going on across the UK hospitality sector.”
This awards night will be held on 28th June, with the Weston Tavern and the Red Squirrel being the other Ayrshire pubs competing.
